The subtitle of the educational film on Alcatraz reads: “It was a wakeup call.”
Erykah Badu, and an assortment of fan photographs from the Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
#sfpride Angel Fabian marches down Market St. during the the 41st annual San Francisco Pride Parade. As a lifetime Daly Cityite, I think it’s strange that this was my first Pride Parade. It really is an event for a diverse group of people, and if you don’t mind seeing the occasional testicle or areola, it’s fun for the whole family. What I was a bit conscious of was the amount of corporate and political sponsors. While it was great to know that someone running for City Treasurer and an Apartment complex looking for more tenants were in support of LGBT rights, I felt that these took away from the atmosphere slightly. I’m not sure if it says “pride in _____,” as much as it says, “pride of myself for being proud of _____.” You feel me? But I guess everyone has bills to pay.
I’m going to avoid a prolonged, non-photography rant and conclusion about letting people marry who they want to marry, separation of church and state, and just plain treating people how you would want to be treated. But for anyone who has even read this far: New York State Senator Roy McDonald said it best when he said, “Fuck it.”
#sfpride Becky and Michaelle Ospital of Berkeley rest together during the Dyke March and Rally in Mission Dolores Park in San Francisco. One changed her name, but they are still unable to get married in the State of California. The Dyke March is an annual event dating back to 1993, the year of the historic National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay rights.
